With the help of Teamster Locals across Southern California, Teamsters Local 911 donated four trucks-full of supplies and raised over $23,000 for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
“Teamsters will always come together in trying times,” said Raymond Whitmer, Local 911 Secretary-Treasurer. “I am proud of my fellow union members of Joint Council 42 who without hesitation, came together and donated much needed help for the people of Puerto Rico.”
Union members from across the nation have also donated hundreds of thousands in money and supplies to assist hurricane victims. Teamster drivers have even traveled to Puerto Rico to help transport supplies to the people in need.
“It has been a heartwarming experience seeing how much our Union members care,” Cristian Leiva, Local 911 Business Representative. “Together, we are bringing real change to those who need it most.”
Being of Puerto Rican decent, Leiva coordinated the supply drive after seeing the disaster left behind by Hurricane Maria.
Thank you to all of our members who donated supplies and to all of the Locals who helped with donations and coordinating such an important cause.
