A Partnership of Strength: Joining Forces with Teamsters Local 986

Teamsters Local 986, chartered in 1948, is one of the largest and oldest locals in the West. With nearly 20,000 members across the Pacific Northwest to  Southern Nevada and even Hawaii, and headquartered in Covina, California, Local 986 shares the same core values as Local 911: pride, dignity, respect, and hard work.

Together, this merger will create a local representing nearly 30,000 members across four states. It will provide our members with:

  • More Resources to support members and negotiate stronger contracts.
  • Increased Political Power to advocate for worker protections and wages.
  • A More Powerful Voice to stand up to employers and ensure our members have the wages, benefits and protections they have earned.

Why This Merger Matters

This merger isn’t about change—it’s about growth and strength. Here’s what it means for our members:

  • Contracts Stay the Same: Every current contract will remain intact. Wages, benefits, and job security will not be impacted. This merger will not affect your existing dues structure.
  • Representation Remains Strong: The staff you know and trust at Local 911 will stay in place, continuing to provide the dedicated support you rely on.
  • Bigger and Better Together: With more resources, a larger footprint, and stronger influence, we will win better contracts and expand opportunities for all members.
